Residency at Spit and Sawdust, Cardiff
04.06.2018 - 21.06.2018
Whilst researching my grandfather’s time spent selling mining machinery in South Wales in the 1950s, I discovered a catalogue of technical drawings in the Swansea Miners library. This catalogue was the starting point for a residency at Spit & Sawdust.
Responding instinctively to the machine drawings, and through a process or repetition and re-assembly, the works became detached from their original source. During the residency I experimented with shape, scale, sound and mark making, engaging with the environment and atmosphere of Spit & Sawdust.
